In July 2014, The Midas Construction Group contacted us at our sister site ( www.foodpoverty.org.uk ) asking us for assistance in finding a food bank that they could donate to. In September, they were holding a Community Engagement Week and were looking to support food banks. They intended to ask all their staff and contractors to support the initiative and to donate food.
We willingly helped them in their quest. After a few days of research, making calls and sending emails to food banks, we sent the Midas Group a full report and identified a number of food banks who were in need of donations to support their local communities.
We are pleased to say that The Midas Group chose one of our recommendations and the Penryn & Falmouth Food Bank were the recipients of a number of boxes filled with long lasting foodstuff.
Here at foodpoverty.co.uk we want to continue the good work of linking business and food banks. Our role in the process is one of the features that our online food poverty community can continue.
Food banks could not operate without the support and help of it’s volunteers and those in their local community. We aim in 2015 to connect lots more food banks, food bank users, business and charities together.
